Testimonials

I would like to start by thanking Lisa’s House and Johnnie Prince for taking me in and guiding me to achieve my independence. I am very grateful for this opportunity.

I am a 56-year-old woman. I struggle with drug addiction, mental health issues, and chronic homelessness.

When I first arrived here at Lisa’s House I was a mess. I basically had nothing other than my job as a waitress. I had worn out shoes, no clothes, and no idea of how to start over at my age. Johnnie helped me with shoes, clothing, food, hygiene, and most of all caring and compassion.

Miss Johnnie is a kind, caring woman, that whom I am blessed to be working with. She has provided me with tools, support, and guidance in the healing process. She has helped me set up behavioral health appointments that I now attend regularly. She has helped me with information about relapse prevention and is helping me on a daily basis to focus on my recovery. I attend individual counseling and attend an AA group that is close by. We have a house meeting weekly with Miss Johnnie where we set weekly goals and discuss ways to accomplish them. We also talk on a daily basis and as needed to address any issues that arise.

This is very helpful as I am learning that communication is a very important key to my recovery.

I am learning to deal with life in a whole new way. I am working on restoring my relationship with my family by being sober, honest, and most of all responsible for my actions and my behavior.

Since being at Lisa’s house (with Johnnie’s help) I have been able to do some financial planning, opened a bank account, and learned about budgeting. Miss Johnnie has provided me with tools and guidance to help me start saving to buy a car and eventually be able to live on my own once again.

I loved living there and am I have learned so much from this program. Each day I feel blessed and grateful for Lisa’s House and the opportunities I am given.

Thank You!
